Stamford 635-16
This 4,000+ sq. ft. gymnasium was completed in 2016 and was a unique project for Allen J. Reyen, Inc. Although we specialize in residential construction, this project was an example of our commercial work. Impeccably designed by Charles Hilton Architects, this gymnasium services a Stamford, CT preschool. A walk through the gymnasium inspires, as visitor's embrace the beautiful, captivating natural wood in it's vaulted ceilings. Large windows on all sides of the building allow an abundance of natural light to flood the space, while also affording views out into gardens and greenery.
Simply put, there is nothing lackluster in the construction of the gymnasium. The building features floor to ceiling windows, tall vaulted ceilings, a stage, a kitchenette, and an atrium with captivating skylights. As a commercial space, the building was constructed to meet ADA compliance. Other impressive features include it's barreled roof, triple-glazed windows, and an outdoor, covered area for use as an outdoor play and eating area. The gym was built with energy efficiency in mind which required an extra level of precision. For example, solar panels capable of powering the entire school were added to a barreled roof, which required us to make custom brackets to mount them.
All of the work was done during an active school year, on a small site, in a residential neighborhood. Although these factors were hindrances to our success, the project was completed in a timely, professional manor that did not have any effect on the academic activities that were happening concurrently.
